Sicilian warfare – the new book

by Ilya Smirin

I think my second book was a success. I wrote it based on my experience for both colors. The reader will find examples of rapid attacks, solutions for interesting position and fascinating ending. I did not focus on the theory (although I gave a few debut recommendations), but rather tried to reveal typical (and some that aren’t) game plans, a variety of tactical and dynamic techniques.

All this is rich Sicilian protection – one of the most complex, interesting and popular debuts. The book is designed for a wide range of readers. I hope that both grandmasters and novice chess players will find a lot of useful things in it.

Dealing with a cricket

Noah doesn’t like to eat, and he wishes that someone else would eat the oatmeal his mother serves him every morning.

What happens when his wish comes true?

Is Noah happy about it? Or would he rather things happen differently?

The tale is brought to us by Moshe Slav and Shelly Lenczner, who provide the readers with interesting insights about our simple wishes and the meaning of agreements and commitments

Queen’s Gambit

by Emil Sutovsky

Queen’s Gambit is a surprising hit. It showed chess still captivates people’s minds. It actually proved that a story about chess journey can do without good and evil, without failure turned into success, even, sorry guys, without a single unexpected twist in the script. Queen’s Gambit remains no.1 show on Netflix for three weeks already. Thousands of people who once played chess, got back to the board. Many more discover chess for a first time. Google Trends shows an exponential rise of people searching for “chess lessons”. Chess sets and books are sold as never. Once again, we prove – chess is not just another board game, but rather an intensive, fascinating game. Chess is suitable for everyone – no matter which religion, race or sex you are identifying with. Just do yourself a favor – get one of these old chess books (or buy a new one), set the board, and just enjoy this magic called chess.
