More Details

A professional wooden chess set includes standard wooden chess pieces made of  boxwood/sheesham (Model 4045 at this site) and wooden flat chess board (Model 3003 on this site). King height 95 mm (like model 4045 on this site). The pieces are specially designed to offer a solid and durable style that can withstand abuse without breaking. They are designed in a simple but traditional style. White pieces are made of light boxwood, and dark pieces are made of hard wood such as sheesham. The set includes 34 full pieces - with the addition of 2 queens. These pieces are with added weight for stability. . These chess pieces are made of expensive and high-quality wood. High-quality chess pieces are made in the homeland of chess - India. A unique feature from other types of chess pieces is that they are made of excellent materials - boxwood or rosewood and using handwork. Handwork is especially noticeable when comparing knights in Polish and Indian chess. A metal weight is inserted into the chess pieces for stability. Chess pieces with weight are almost 2 times more massive and their center of gravity drops lower, which makes them more stable. These pieces are designed in the "Staunton" style. Staunton is a special design for a set of chess pieces created in the mid-19th century and is now considered standard (classic). The designer of the set is considered to be Nathaniel Cook. Staunton sets are recommended for competitions organized by FIDE. The set is named after the English chess player Howard Staunton, who was considered the strongest chess player in the world in the 1840s. One of the unique features of such figures is the square on the bishop (many mistake this detail as a defect, but it is not).  The set includes a flat wooden chessboard 48 x 48 cm (model 3003 on the site). The chess pieces are packed in a cardboard box and a cotton bag. A special wooden box for storing chess pieces (item 8020) can be added to the order upon request
